Advice line & Short term Counselling

Whatever your interest in adoption, the Advice Line is a good first port of call. Trained and experienced counsellors offer a friendly listening ear, confidential advice, course and workshop details and where appropriate, appointments for our face-to-face counselling service or referrals to our other services.

Counselling can be individual, as a couple, or as a family. If you wish to arrange a consultation but you do not live within a local authority that subscribes to the Centre, there will be a charge to cover our costs. We also offer an intermediary service for adopted people and birth relatives.

The Advice Line phone number is: 020 7284 5879

The Advice Line is open:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 10.00am and 1.00pm;
and on Thursday evenings between 5.30pm and 7.30pm

In addition to advice and adult counselling, there is a programme of groups and workshops on adoption issues. Specific groups for adults who were transracially adopted are also available.

Under a service level agreement the Centre offers consultation on any aspect of family placement and post-adoption work to local authority social workers, GALS and other professional staff involved in adoption. There is also the PACTS modular training scheme for counsellors and social workers.
