Training for Professionals

If your involvement with adoption is professional, then the Centre offers support and training in many forms. For social workers with particularly difficult cases, the Centre's experienced staff can provide supervision or detailed consultation. In addition we can provide in-house training tailored to the needs of your department on a range of adoption and post-adoption work.
For more information contact Maggie Rogers.

For subscribing local authorities, the Centre offers a secondee scheme (accessed through an interview) where social workers spend a day a week at the Centre over a twelve month period, expanding their knowledge of post-adoption work.

For counsellors, therapists and social workers the Centre runs the highly acclaimed Adoption Counselling Expertise (ACE) course every year, formerly PACTS and PREPS, which entitles a counsellor to appear in the national directory and receive referrals through the Centre.

In addition this year there is the opportunity to attend the very successful Working with Severe Attachment Difficulties course. This course is highly recommended to social workers, counsellors, therapists and mental health professionals. It is possible to attend individual modules.

For more information, please see our Training & Seminar section.
