Welcome to the Post-Adoption Centre (PAC)
Who we are We provide independent advice, counselling and support to anyone affected by or dealing with the challenges and opportunities of adoption. The Centre was founded in 1986 to meet the needs of adults and children experiencing problems arising from adoption. Its origins were in a growing recognition that adoption isn't always a neat happy ending, but often brings specific problems of its own. To meet changes in adoption practice, the Centre has developed a range of services that reflect the complexities of contemporary adoption. We now offer support, counselling, advice, and therapeutic input to individuals, couples or families. Around 1850 people use the Post-Adoption Centre's services each year, mainly covering London and the south-east of England. The Centre's Director and counsellors are all professionally qualified and have a wide experience of adoption and post-adoption work. The multi-racial counselling workers are supported by external consultants, administrative and fundraising staff. The Centre has particular experience of working with black and multi-racial children and families and trans-racially adopted adults, as well as gay and lesbian adopted people.
